(Wylde) About Us

Dearest Fellow Flower Lovers,

Welcome to Wylde Florence!  My name is Jenn Florence, I'm an artisan cut flower farmer and fashion designer based here in beautiful Helensburgh on Scotland's West Coast.  We're only a 30-minute drive from Glasgow and 15 minutes from Loch Lomond.

I grow the glorious flowers, nurture them from seed, bulb, corm or tuber.  I grow them as naturally as possible.  My flowery season here in Scotland runs from mid-April to October (mother nature permitting) and abetted by some cover in the form of polytunnel and greenhouse.

I sell the blooms in a few different ways.  Directly to lovely local customers every Friday from the farm shop at Ardardan Estate and wholesale to florists and floral designers. I work in mixed buckets of flowers 'best in field' but I can also work to a specific colour palette.  These buckets are available to my retail customers too, they're great for weddings or any event you'd like to decorate yourself.

I love growing flowers - I love everything about them.  I select the most exciting varieties I can find with a focus on beautiful scent.  I love showy blooms in romantic palettes.  Ones that do not normally fair well being imported (covered in chemicals, chilled and flown thousands of miles) therefore are not as readily available, gorgeously perfumed Sweet Peas or blousy Dahlias to name a few.  When growing, I try to stay as close to nature as possible, I use peat free compost, no pesticides or harmful chemicals.  Our friendly Robins really do a good job and our big river provides seaweed to feed the plants.

Through the growing season you can usually find me on the plot.  In the darker months you can find me in my studio sewing, if I can.  I always want to wear a billowy silk dress, floating around picking flowers but mostly it's overalls covered in story telling dirt.

Finding a way to work seasonally, rhythmically feels right for me.  After having my daughters, burn out wasn't an option for me anymore, I had to slow down and get my hands in the dirt.

I thank you for visiting Wylde Florence and supporting locally grown as we look for a slow, sustainable way to live and support our community.

If you have any questions for me, please do get in touch.

Flowery love from me to you -

 Jenn x
